    Hi,

    How do you change the permalink settings for events? Is this functionality within the Helping Hands theme available only for the blog?

    As a workaround I’ve had to manually enter the date in the link name rather than wordpress doing it automatically.

    The permalinks are managed like the default WordPress posts. What did you try to change and couldn’t?

    I’m afraid that this is not possible right out of the box. Though, I’ve set you up with a plugin and now you can change the permalinks structure from your settings page.

    Events Archive:

    Is there a way to view all events i.e. archived/previous events? Is this something that can be done out of the box or do i need some php wizardry to do this? It would be really helpful to have an archive when events and meeting have passed, as i note all events that pass their date/time are no longer viewable.

    I moved away from the permalink as i realised events would not appear until the published date. thats no help – so not to worry. i sticked with post name and put the date of the event in the post name manually yy-mm-dd-postname

    With regards the archived events… if you could help me write some php to display it, just like the events page.. basically.. show all events < [todays_date]

    Here’s what to do:

    Go to the theme’s folder and create a copy of the file named “events.php” Let’s say “past-events.php”.

    Edit the page and right at line 3 change from this:

    Template Name: Page: Events

    to this:

    Template Name: Page: Past Events

    Now, go on line 39 and replace this:

    >=

    with this:

    <=

    and on line 41, this:

    ASC

    with this:

    DESC

    Now, simply create a new page and assign it the “Past Events” page template.
