    Hey Raj,

    You need to manually update Visual Composer. Make sure you download the latest version of the theme and in the archive you’ll find the file named “update-info” where you can find step by step instructions on how to update all the bundled plugins.

    Thank You. Where do I find the latest version of the theme? Can you send me a link. It is asking me to buy.

    Do I have to reinstall the theme as well or just the visual composer? Why did this happen? Any way to avoid in the future?

    Yeah whats going on here???

    I tried searching through my Helping Hands folder and there is not “update-info” file. Do I have the latest version? Any insight on how to get the latest version???

    Not too happy with this theme so far…the developer chooses to only share certain info once asked, and then only shares a little bit at a time.

    WHY NOT WRITE ALL OF THIS STUFF UP & MAKE THEM A STICKY ON YOUR SUPPORT FORUM!!

    Go to your Envato / Theme Forest downloads and just download it again:
    http://themeforest.net/downloads

    Its in the top tier of the folder, so no need to dig around.

    It’s stupid that we had to waste time figuring this out on our own though. No indication that there was even a NEW VERSION of the theme! I just checked my email thoroughly and got no message that the theme was updated.

    Unfortunately I’m not in charge with sending email updates but Envato itself. You can also install one of their plugins (Envato toolkit I think it is named) and you’ll have notices right in your dashboard.

    Hi Raj,

    The thing is that WordPress 4.5.2 brought some bugs to VC so not much we can do about it but to update the plugins.

    You need to go to http://themeforest.net/downloads and download the whole theme and documentation. In the archive you’ll find the update-info file.

    I know I’m being stupid but I don’t want to mess anything on the website that is up and running. See below.

    1. Do I need to re-install the Helping Hands Theme or just the VC plugin? if I have to reinstall the theme, should I delete the existing theme and reinstall new theme?
    2. If I reinstall new theme – should I configure everything again? Will I lose any data?

    What I would do then is to create advisory & tutorial posts here on your support forum in BIG CAPITAL LETTERS and STICKY THEM to the top. Instead you only have the basic tutorial video, which even you admitted is now outdated.

    It would save yourself some time from responding to all of these requests one-by-one, and would save us the time of writing these posts & waiting sometimes overnight or longer for a response.

    Just a thought 🙂

    Hey Raj,

    1. You need to install only VC but it is always best to have the latest version of the theme too.

    Now, if you want to install only VC you need to deactivate the old version, delete it and upload and install the latest version from the theme’s folder > framework > plugins > js_composer.zip. Don’t worry, no settings will be lost.

    2. Now, if you want to update the whole theme you need to make sure that you didn’t make any updates to any of the theme files otherwise those updates will be lost (including translations so make sure you make a backup first).

    If you didn’t make any changes to any of the theme files simply delete the old version and install the new one. No settings will be lost. Just make sure that after you’re on the latest version you go to the theme options pages and hit “Save Changes” so the custom file will be generated with the new version too.

    Can you explain what “making sure that you didn’t make any updates to any of the theme files” means?

    Does that mean any changes we made in “Theme Options” will be undone? What about in Customize > Appearance? Or do you mean altering the actual files in the theme’s folder?

    Yes, making changes to the source files in the theme’s folder. If you didn’t modify any of the files you can safely update. Your theme options, settings and customization won’t be affected.
