My site cannot load properly because it could not activate Visual Composer. As far as I know I don’t have to install Visual Composer because it came in the theme file. But no matter how I try to update it, it keeps saying update required.

Hi there and sorry for the delay but we were out of office for the Easter.

You don’t need to activate Visual Composer because it is bundled with the theme. The activation notice is just for users that got the plugin separate from the theme.

Enable the plugin from your dashboard > Plugins > Visual Composer.

I’m having this same issue. I believe I have installed and updated everything yet my homepage has a bunch of short codes:

That’s because the Visual Composer plugin is not enabled. You need to enable it from your dashboard > Plugins.

Doesn’t allow it. It says it requires an update to 5.1.1 but whenever I update it updates locally from the themes folder and doesn’t go out to the internet to update.

You don’t need to update to version 5.1.1 yet. Simply go to your Plugins section > Visual Composer and click on “Enable.
