    Why is it that when I use the post grid it display 2 version of read more button per post. see http://istar.media/home-1/ at the bottom of the page the red read more button

    It seems the media grid is doing this.

    Go to your theme options page > Styling and paste this in the “Custom CSS” box:

    .vc_grid .sd-more {
    display: none;
}

    Save. Done.
