    Hey,

    Sorry for the delay I was out since Wednesday due to a health problem.

    I’ve just checked your site and managed to login and made the change with still no effect. Then I’ve deleted a core file of the theme (to make a test) and still no change on the front end. This means that either we’re editing the wrong source of the files on the server or you have some sort of caching system that needs to be reset after doing any changes.

    Let me know how’s going.

    We used to use the W3 Total Cache plugin, but it is no longer active. Do you think this could be what’s causing the trouble?

    If the plugin is no longer active it shouldn’t affect the site. Not when removing core parts of the theme. Can you check with your hosting and see if they have any caching systems enabled.

    You can make some tests too. Try deleting any of the files in the theme’s folder (eg. header.php) and see if the site continues to work (make sure to backup the file first).

    My hosting company just confirmed that the W3 Total Cache plugin was not fully disabled. They completely disabled the W3 Total Cache plugin using the information found here:

    Hey,

    I’ve checked your site again. There’s def. something weird happening to your hosting. Or I don’t have all the details and settings so I can figure it out.

    If you go to public_html > wp-content > themes > getfit and edit any of the theme files it doesn’t affect the site. I’ve removed also core WordPress files and still no changes affected the website.

    Are you sure that the public_html folder is the document root of your site?

    After a lot of back and forth with our hosting company, it turns out there was an issue with our DNS settings. Here’s the latest from my hosting company’s support team:

    “I have updated the dns and now it is pointing to the server.

    I am seeing getfit theme errors on the site.”

    Is it possible to get the getfit theme errors resolved ASAP? I assume this is because of the files that were deleted?

    Hey,

    The errors were due to some changes that were made to the theme core files.

    Though, I’ve reverted the change to the meta box files and now all it’s working fine. Even the blog page.

    I really appreciate your patience with all of the back-and-forth on this one. Can’t believe it turned out to be a DNS thing.

    One small thing: the h2 header on the blog page is repeating the title of the first blog post. Is it possible to have this h2 header just say “Blog”?

    Hey, I’m glad we’ve managed to fix it.

    Regarding the blog title make sure that in your WP dashboard > Settings > Reading there is nothing selected as the blog page. It should display -Select-.

    One small problem: it appears when the site was restored we reverted to an older version from late January? Is it possible this was a result of restoring the missing files? We are missing content that was posted over the past couple months.

    I’m sorry for the problem but changing the files could not affect in any way the content (which is stored in the database). The restored files were just for some functionality.

    Check with your hosting and see if they have a backup of your database content.

    Hi again,

    I had to have my host change the DNS settings back. They were pointed to the correct server before and now were pointing to an incorrect server with an old copy of the site. My client never informed me of the server move so I was very in the dark. I apologize for any confusion.

    Now I need to re-implement the changes that were made yesterday. Can you tell me which WP files needed to be replaced? I did place the correct version of the content.php file within the child theme folder, and the full text of blog posts are displaying as expected: http://4afsfit.com/blog/

    However, I am receiving some error messages in my WP dashboard related to missing meta box files…? Can you help shed any light on that?

    Hey,

    You need to go to the theme’s folder > framework > inc and rename the old.meta-box to metabox

    For some reason you or your client tried to add another version of that folder.
