    I don’t really like your solution, though it is easy enough to do at my level, it’s not possible for editors and authors.

    The problem is that you are scaling the image, you are scaling the horizontal, but not the vertical. I can make it work until turned over to the client for their maintenance, this fix will cost me a major amount of ongoing pain – almost enough to dump the theme.

    Did you say you can add a graphic in the gray bar under the slider? Add the html in the slider setup in the Theme options distorts the image totally.

    Also, related to the page headers – why can’t I chose the header image from the media library, it forces a file load each time? This slows down the process, and I am not sure if it is filling up disk space with repeated images.

    it’s actually an easy thing to resolve there is a plugin called “ItemsPress” that allows you to simply use an alternate post type for your course catalog, plus there are other “catalog” plugins that can handle this as well. So it’s easy to add a dedicated set of posts for that purpose, though your search box may not work with them. You should explore this, perhaps created a fork of a plugin for the purpose.
