    Hi,
    I’m trying to make this change as well.
    When I placed the snippet into functions.php in my child theme, all I got was the code popping up at top of the screen. Currently, this snippet is the only thing in my child theme functions.php, is there anything else I need in there?
    I also want to be able to have excerpts for classes as well, so that the entire description doesn’t show up on the classes page, as it is getting too long. I want to have an excerpt showing and then a “read more” box like in the demo.

    Do you mean copy both files into the child theme? Right now, both custom-styles.css and custom-styles.php are only in the parent theme with permission set to 775.

    I have also tried changing the hover color using style.css in the child theme, but it doesn’t seem to be doing anything. I set the permissions of child theme style.css to 775. How do I get the changes I make in the child theme style.css to take effect? I noticed that we can place custom css into Theme Options > styling as well. Should I be making css changes in custom-styles.css or style.css?

    Hello,

    I also have the same issue with Theme Options. I changed the permissions in custom-styles.css but I am still unable to save any changes. Do I need to copy custom-styles.css into the child theme folder? How to I make sure the WordPress user is the owner of the file? Please help!
