    Hiya

    We have set up a dev site using the Helping Hands template with the demo content included, and mostly everything seems fine except none of the colour changes in the Style section of the template editor seem to have any effect.

    We can see the changes in the admin, but they are not reflected in the front of the website. We’ve tried a couple of different browsers to make sure it isn’t a cache issue, but no luck.

    Is there a step we are missing?

    Hi there,

    That’s weird. Make sure that the file named “custom-styles.css” located in the theme’s folder > framework > admin > sd-admin-options has writing permissions. I’ve checked your site and the file is empty. All the styling settings are saved there.

    Hi Chris

    I have checked the custom-styles.css and it’s empty. It’s got 777 permissions, so it should be writeable just fine.

    If I add something manually to this file it works, and if I add something to the Custom Styles box that works (though I know this executes differently), but none of the styling options seem to to be saving.

    I checked using the WP customise template manager and got the same (no) result. I also tried in both Chrome and Firefox just in case.

    There are no PHP errors or javascript errors that I can see. We are on WP 4.3.1 if that helps.

    Hey Sean,

    Did you enable the WP debug mode and see if it pulls any errors or notices? Also, do you have the possibility to test on a different server?

    The theme options settings make use of the default WP filesystem functions to write to that file so it’s weird that the file can’t be written.

    Hi Sean,

    I’ve just checked your site and everything works fine. All the color are changing when selecting different styles from the theme options page. I didn’t make any changes to the settings, just logged in and changed the header background color. Also, all of your changes that you’ve made are properly reflected on the site.

    I think this has something to do with your cache. Did you try to clear your browser’s cache and refresh the page?

    Hi there,
    I’m experiencing the same issue. I have changed the theme’s main colour and the headings colour to reflect the brand and I cannot see the changes in the front end.

    I have already changed the permissions for the custom-styles.css file as per your suggestion above.

    The only way that I can see the change is by manually entering the font colour using the visual composer tools.

    I would like to use the general settings tool so I don’t have to manually change the colours of every single page in the site.

    We eventually found a solution to this problem which worked on our site and might work for you.

    Firstly, make sure your permissions are set as above (777 on the custom-styles.css file).

    Secondly, add the following to your wp-config.php file (in the root):
    define(‘FS_METHOD’, ‘direct’);

    We suspect the issue has something to do with the default WordPress file system functions, and the way they are used by the Redux plugin used in this theme and it is not writing direct to the server.

    I would also recommend removing this setting when you go live with your site because I don’t know what the security implications might be

    Hi, I’ve got the same problem as the guy above.

    I CHMOD the correct folder and css file to 777 but it doesn’t correct it.

    The only way to customize the style are through the custom css panel.

    I’m having the same problem as Sean above. My colors don’t change when using theme options.
    I did change my writing permissions to 777 for the custom.css file on my server.
    Also, my donate button isn’t green as shown in the demo.
